“On Friday, September 16, 2022 at approximately 9:30PM, Officers with the Muscle Shoals Police Department were dispatched to a Traffic Accident in the area of Ashley Dr; located in Cornelius Landing Subdivision. Officers were advised of a single vehicle accident involving a motorcycle.
Once Officers were on scene, along with the Muscle Shoals Fire Department and Medical Personnel, they immediately began tending to two accident victims. Air Medevac had already been dispatched to the area. Due to the severity of the accident and injuries, it was determined that Traffic Homicide Investigators (THI) needed to report to the scene.
Muscle Shoals Police Department Traffic Homicide Investigators arrived on scene to carry on the accident investigation. Per THI request, the Colbert County Coroner arrived and pronounced, Cassandra Joy Seal, 38 of Muscle Shoals as deceased on scene. Aaron Matthew Steber, 34 of Muscle Shoals, was transported to Huntsville Hospital for his injuries. Steber is expected to make a full recovery per information provided to the Muscle Shoals Police THI’s from Huntsville Hospital personnel.
This accident is still under investigation by the Muscle Shoals Police Department Traffic Homicide Investigators. The Traffic Homicide Investigators will work to determine the primary cause of the traffic accident, how the primary cause contributed to a death, and if the cause of death was accidental or if it should result in anyone being charged for causing that death. We will provide updates as they are available.
We ask everyone to please understand these types of investigations do take time and there are medical, court and state rules and policies that we must adhere too throughout. We do ask if anyone has any information they believe to be helpful to the actual traffic accident to please call the Muscle Shoals Police Department at 256-383-6746. Please leave a contact number and that your call is in reference to this investigation. We will have a THI return your call. Again, updates will be provided as they become available.
