Mary Mavoline Wise, 94, of Athens, passed away on Sunday, September 11th, 2022, at Limestone Health Facility. Mrs. Wise was born on May 22nd, 1928, to Orlen and Vivian Scott.
Mrs. Wise is survived by her son Richard Sweat of Ohio; granddaughters Melissa Barnwell (Lawrence) of Hendersonville, N.C., and Brandy Lavy, Helen Carr, and Maryann Miles all of Ohio; several great-grandchildren, and sister-in-law Virginia Woodward.
Preceded in death by her parents; husband J.D. Wise; sons Dennis Sweat and Billy Upton; and several brothers and sisters.
Funeral services for Mrs. Wise will be Saturday, September 17th, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home, with Ray Blankenship officiating. Visitation will be Saturday from 10:00 to 10:50 a.m. at the funeral home. Pallbearers for Mrs. Wise are Stanley Scott, David Brand, Jerry Franklin, Rusty Brand, Billy Woodall, and Larry Carr. Burial will be at New Salem Cemetery.
