Katherine Marie Cosper Tucker, age 88, loving mother of Cynthia (Cindy) M. Tucker and adoring wife of Luther Gerald Tucker and grandmother to a large number of dogs through the years, passed away in the early morning of Sept. 9th after a courageous battle with esophageal stomach and pancreatic cancer in Maumelle, Arkansas. Katherine was born on June 15th of 1934 in Cullman, Alabama and grew up surrounded by her large family. She had 11 siblings. Katherine was influenced by her family to be a loving and caring woman, always giving her time to others, and being a remarkable mother and wife. She met her husband, Luther, when she was in junior high school and he was in high school. It was love at first sight and they both told their friends they had met the person they would marry. They wed in March of 1953 and they knew they both shared a love for family and decided to start one of their own. Katherine loved to sew, sing, and garden. She loved Crimson Tides football and watched Alabama play football up until her death.

As a mother, Katherine was generous, loving, and kind. She loved and spoiled her daughter, Cindy, whenever she could. They instilled in her a love of family and God and gave her opportunities to grow with both. She and her daughter were incredibly close and her love was a blessing to Cindy in so many ways. Her daughter described her as the closest thing to an angel she had ever known and she said her mother was an example of what a lady should be. She takes comfort in the fact that she is no longer in pain or suffering. Cindy finds peace knowing her mother is resting in the arms of Jesus and is having a Heavenly reunion with her Dad.

Katherine was a homemaker until her husband retired from the Army. Later in life, she was the head of Volunteers at the Crestwood Baptist Mission Center in Jackson, Mississippi where her husband was the director. She loved to witness to people and share her love for Jesus Christ. Her daughter described her as the Queen of her Heart when she said she always forgave people and never held a grudge and was truly a Godly woman. She was very healthy and active up until the end. She will be greatly missed by her family – especially her daughter: Cindy, who adres her with all of her heart. “I know that I can’t have you but I’m happy knowing that the angels have finally got you back. Goodly to a remarkably strong and wonderful woman and a beautiful mother.”

Katherine is survived by her daughter Cindy, and her brother Jessie Cosper. She is preceded in death by her parents Thomas J. Cosper and Nellie Webb Cosper; her husband Luther Gerald Tucker; her sisters Helen Brock and Bessie Scott; half sisters Deanie Scruggs and Fearn Bates; her brothers Howasrd, Gilbert and Herchell Cosper; half brothers I.C. Priest and Edward Priest.

Visitation will be at the Cullman Funeral Home in Cullman, Alabama on Wed., September 14th at 12:30 p.m. with the service at 1:30 p.m. in the Chapel. Graveside Services will immediately follow at Valley Springs Cemetery.

The family wishes to thank Hospice Home Care in Little Rock, AR especially Mariah, T.J., and Suzette, and all the phenomenal people there who touched her life with love, compassion, and dignity.
