Mr. Lonnie BlakneyLonnie Nolan Blakney was born in Counce, Tennessee to the late Edo and Ora Lee Blakney on September 8, 1933. Lonnie served in the United States Army. Lonnie worked in Chicago as a construction worker with many other side jobs including snowplowing in the winter and driving big machinery. Lonnie married his wife, JoAnn on July 3, 1954, in Corinth, Mississippi.
Lonnie enjoyed raising his family, eating out at restaurants, and farming. He loved being outdoors and enjoyed fishing. Lonnie served the Lord, alongside his wife at Bridgeview Church of God (Bridgeview, IL) for over thirty years.
Lonnie is survived by his wife, JoAnn; his daughters Teresa Collins (Matthew) and Fayela Gisele Blakney; his son Jeffrey Blakney (Delinda); his grandchildren Penny Taylor McCaslin (Doug), Tiffany Koelsch, Bethany McCullough (Jared), Brock Blakney, Jase Blakney, Luke Blakney, and Colton Blakney; his great-grandchildren Sky Koelsch, Mia Koelsch, Lili Koelsch, Isabela Koelsch, Coy McCullough, and Cash McCullough; Uncle Teddy Battles; Brother-in-law Archie Hall; with many other family members and friends. He is preceded in death by his brother, Vernon Blakney and his parents.
Graveside services are scheduled for 12 noon on Thursday, September 8, 2022 at Henderson County Memory Gardens.
In lieu of flowers the family request donations be sent to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis.
