Donald Euin MillsDonald (Don) Euin Mills, 80, of Decatur, Alabama, passed away on August 29, 2022, at Decatur-Morgan Hospital.
Don was born on August 11, 1942, to John E. Mills and Robbie J. Mills in Decatur, Alabama.
Don graduated from Decatur High School in 1960.
In 1965, Don joined the Decatur Fire Department. He faithfully served the citizens of Decatur for 34 years. He spent most of his career at Fire Station #1 on Gordon Drive and retired as a Lieutenant in 2000.
Don met his wife, Brenda Stone Mills, while in high school. They were married on August 26, 1966.
Don was known as “the man who could fix it.” There wasn’t much he couldn’t do. Though he had many talents and hobbies, none were more prominent than his love of cars. His love of cars began in high school and continued until his passing. He loved his extended “street rod family” and the memories they made together.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda, two children, Lee (Amber) and Allison Mills Greenhalgh (Eddie), grandchildren, Grayson Mills, Tanner Mills, Anne Reed Greenhalgh, and Sloane Greenhalgh, sister Jill Mills Davis (Bruce), and brother Dr. Glen Smith (Cecilia).
He was preceded in death by his sister Janice and brother Stan.
Visitation will be held at Ridout’s Brown-Service Funeral Home on Friday, September 2, 2022, from 11 AM until 1 PM. The service will begin at 1 PM, and a graveside service will be held at Decatur City Cemetery immediately following the service.
