Barbara Ann RoperBarbara Ann Oldfield Roper, 74, of Ardmore TN passed peacefully at her home on Thursday August 25th, 2022.
She was born to Donald Eugene Oldfield and Alice Reed Oldfield on February 4th, 1948 in Washington County, Ohio. She was a graduate of Marietta High School. She lived in the Ardmore area for 25 years and was of the Methodist faith. She was a natural caregiver and spent many years as a nurse’s aid and home-maker. She was an avid sports fan with a true passion for baseball. She had a strong love for animals and delighted in rescuing strays, her cat Buddy and dog Wally were doted upon beyond measure. She also enjoyed crocheting, devising different color schemes so that every piece was unique. For years she provided cancer patients at Huntsville Hospital with blankets and hats that she had made. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend and will be missed greatly.

She is preceded in death by her parents and husband, Charles David Roper.

Mrs. Roper is survived by her son Philip (Rita) Roper, daughter Mary McCloud, brother Frank Oldfield, sisters Carol Bartimus and Elaine Bower, grandchildren Tommy, Sara, Alicia, Jayson, Adaline, and Oliver and great grandchildren Alyssa, Tommy and Jack.

There will be a visitation at Ardmore Chapel Tuesday August 30th from 4-6 PM. A funeral service is scheduled to follow at 6 PM with Debbie Eubanks officiating.

In lieu of flowers the family ask that you make a donation to the Humane Society or animal charity of your choice.
