Ruth Hartselle Sims

Ruth Hartselle Sims, 97, of Decatur, Alabama, passed away on August 9, 2022. Her visitation will be on Friday, August 12, 2022 at Ridout’s Brown-Service Funeral Home from 1:00 until 2:00PM. The service will follow in the chapel with Chaplain Rich Thompson and Pastor Jay Schug officiating. The burial will follow in Roselawn Cemetery.

Mrs. Sims was born on January 12, 1925 in Decatur, Alabama to Louis L. Hartselle and Minnie Engle Hartselle. She was a member of Decatur Baptist Church.  She assisted with the Shepherd’s Class, a class for the mentally challenged.
She had a servant’s heart.

She is survived by two daughters, Tonia Gail Sims Ward Warren and Judi Sims Williams and son, Karl R. Sims, all of Decatur, Alabama. Additionally, she is survived by five grandchildren and their families:   Joshua T. Ward, Sr. (Joshua T. Ward, Jr. and Riann Olivia Ward); Melissa Ruth Harris and husband, Brian David Harris and children, Megan Ruth Harris and Lauren Elizabeth Harris; Alison Elizabeth Schug   and  husband Jay Alexander Schug  and children Nora Elizabeth Schug and Emery Claire Schug; Angela Nicole Hand and husband Kevin Lee Hand and children Braxton Todd Hand, Elisabeth Rochelle Hand, Everlee Nicole Hand and Brantlee James Hand; and a most special grandson James Randal Sims (Jamie Sims).

She was preceded in death by her husband James Royce Sims , her daughter, Ruth McKay and husband, Paul E. McKay; brother, Leroy Hartselle;two step brothers, Edward McCluskey and Bill R. McCluskey
