George “Butch” Marshal Allfrey, age 73 of Athens, passed away Monday, August 8, 2022.
Butch was a proud Marine Corp Vietnam veteran, who served his country with “honor, courage, and an always faithful commitment” to his fellow man and Marine.
The family will be visiting with friends at McConnell Funeral Home Friday, August 12th from 5-8pm. Graveside service will be held Saturday at 10am at Prospect Cemetery.
He is survived by his daughters, Beth Bates (Steve) and Leigh Nave (Chris); brother, Dwain Allfrey (Barbara); grandchildren: Evan Brock (Brianna), Ruth Ann Bates, Stephanie Bates, Will Henry Brock, Sam Brock and Ashley Brazeal; and great-granddaughters, Kate and Adalynn Brazeal.
Preceding him in death are his parents, Alton and Mildred Allfrey; brother, Dyral Allfrey; and sisters, Shirley Smith and June Booth.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Wounded Warrior Project or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
