Kitty Talley, 77, of Huntsville, passed away Monday. Kitty was born in Montgomery, AL to Milford and Opal Mathis Dean. She attended grade school in Montgomery. In 1963, she graduated from Robert E. Lee High School with scholastic honors for all A’s throughout high school and was a member of the National Honor Society.

Kitty attended the University of Alabama at Tuscaloosa School of Chemistry from 1963-1964 and made Dean’s List both semesters.

In 1964, Kitty married Lucien Talley, and they resided in Tuscaloosa, Huntsville, Concord, NC, and again in Huntsville. They have two daughters, Carmen Durham (Jeff) of Greenville, SC, and Katherine Wolfson (Scott) of Huntsville. She was preceded in death by her parents.

In 1980-1981, Kitty attended the Physical Therapy Assistant program at Central Piedmont Community College in Charlotte, NC. From 1984-1988, she provided respite care to individuals in the Concord, NC area through Piedmont Area Development Disabilities Services. In 1987-1988, she attended Rowan Tech Community College in Salisbury, NC, graduating with an associate degree in Business Computer Programming. Kitty worked for Goodwill Industries in Charlotte, NC as an instructor for the Computer Programmer Training Program for severely handicapped students from 1988-1989. For the next 10 years, she worked for NationsBank (now Bank of America) in Charlotte as Lead Technical Programmer/System Analyst. She was an Assistant Vice President when she retired prior to the move back to Huntsville.

Kitty always enjoyed learning something new. She attended UAH Lifelong Learning Institute classes from 1998-2018 and has a closet full of Great Courses DVDs for self-study. She had great interest in art history and science and even went on an Italian cruise to experience some of the history.

As a member of First Baptist Church of Huntsville, Kitty participated in several committees and outreach organizations.

Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, August 10 at Laughlin Service Funeral Home. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, August 11 at First Baptist Church Chapel with Dr. Travis Collins officiating.
