Lucy Jean SmithLucy Jean Smith was born on January 18, 1947 in Grenada, Mississippi, the daughter of the late Prentiss Calvin and Ollie Orene Mooney Searcy.

On April 4, 1992, she was united in marriage to her loving and dedicated husband, Edward Ray Smith, who survives.

Lucy was a well known, upstanding member of Hardin County. She worked as a financial officer for the Tennessee River Federal Credit Union from February of 1999 until her retirement in December of 2014. She was a founding member and secretary for the District 3 Community Center in Counce, Tennessee which was built and finished in 2009. She was instrumental in all of the fundraising events that are still held today to support the community center.

Lucy Smith departed this life on August 1, 2022 in Adamsville, Tennessee at the age of 75 years, 6 months, and 14 days.

She is survived by her husband, Edward Ray Smith; children, Tammy Jeannette and her husband Craig, John Christopher Wilbanks and his wife Sharon, and JanaRaye Talley; sister, Betty Jo Biggs; grandchildren, Cari Marie Hall and her husband Randy, Bradley Craig Jeanette and his wife Amy, Anna Christn Wilbanks, Tray Talley, and Ali Rene Wilbanks; great grandchildren, Piper, Coltin, Jase, and Luke Hall; and sister in law, Carol Searcy.

In addition to her parents, Lucy was preceded in death by her sons, Timothy Joe Ellis and Tommy O’neal Ellis and brother, Jimmy Dale Searcy.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations in Lucy’s memories be sent to District 3 Community Center. P.O Box 300 Counce, TN 38326.
