Timothy Hopper went to be with the Lord on July 31, 2022. He was born in Altoona, AL to Perry N. and Vinie L. Hopper in 1935. He loved the Lord, taught Sunday School, led Bible Studies, and participated in numerous church ministries. He proudly served his country for 20 years in the US Army Chemical Corps and, after retiring, never missed an opportunity to don his uniform (which still fit him) in parades or tributes to America. Two things he loved in life were gardening and running. He kept family, friends and neighbors supplied with vegetables from a bottomless backyard garden for decades. For those same decades, he ran races all across north Alabama, thriving on the challenges, enjoying the camaraderie, and cherishing the friendships racing provided.

He is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 66 years, Nina Prince Hopper; daughter, Cindy Wells (Wes); son, Tim Hopper Jr. (Kathy); four grandchildren, Brian Wells (Rachel), David Wells, Kerry Hopper, Amy W. Eckenrode (Connor); three great-grandchildren, John Wells, Erik Eckenrode, Cordelia Eckenrode; brother, Loy Hopper (Sue); and brother-in-law, Dan Prince (Judy).

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, August 5, 2022, at Altoona-Walnut Grove Cemetery located on Walnut Grove Road (County Road 5) in Altoona, AL.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Gideons International, P. O. Box 97251, Washington DC 20090-7251 or Samaritan’s Purse, P.O. Box 3000, Boone, NC 28607.
