Corporal Oliver D. Haygood, age 59 of the Colony, passed away on Monday, August 1, 2022 at Cullman Regional Medical Center. He was born in Cullman Alabama on November 2, 1962. He served in the United State Army from 1982 until 1988 and while serving he received his Marksman Medal for rifle and hand grenade, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon and Good Conduct Medal. Oliver worked at Cullman Regional Medical Center after his time with the military, still serving people to the best of his abilities.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Delmus and Earline Tipton Haygood; his mother, Myrtle Tipton; his siblings, Medora Malcom, Lizzie Tipton, John Albert Tipton and Mary Lee Johnson. He is survived by his brother, Tommy Haygood; sisters, Lauren “Reen” Westborrk and Linda “Sue” Haygood Newsome; a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held on Sunday, August 7, 2022 at 3:00 PM from the Hanceville Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend James Fields officiating. Burial will follow in the Colony Cemetery with Military Funeral Honors. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 1:00 PM until the service time. Serving as pallbearers will be cousins and nephews.
