Mrs. Beatrice Johnson Beatrice Powers Johnson, 101, of the Judson Community, passed away Friday, July 29, 2022, in Lexington. Mrs. Johnson, the widow of Clyde Henry Johnson, was born October 17, 1920, to the late Joe and Etta Johnson Powers. She was a homemaker and also had a poodle grooming business. Mrs. Johnson was the oldest living member of Judson Baptist Church.
Mrs. Johnson’s mother died when she was twelve, and she became a Christian that year. J.D. asked his mother why she thought she had lived so long. Her response was, “I got saved when I was twelve years old, and I’ve been working for Him ever since.”
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by three sisters: Verdean Johnson, Pearl Johnson, and Lee Rowe; and one granddaughter, Susan Johnson. She is survived by two sons: J.D. Johnson (Judy) and Larry Johnson (Catherine); one daughter, Arlene Brown (Russell); five grandchildren: Jason Johnson (Jennifer), Angela Johnson, Jeff Crownover (Cindy), Tim Crownover (Penny), and Dana Culver (Lanny); seven great grandchildren: Lauren Johnson, Lorena Johnson, Danny Crownover, Michelle Bray, Fallon Crownover, Ava Lovelace (Hayes), and Andy Williams; and six great-great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at Pafford Funeral Home on Sunday, July 31, from 12:00 until 4:00 p.m., and on Monday, August 1, from 12:00 until 2:00 p.m. The funeral is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Monday in the Chapel of Pafford Funeral Home, with burial to follow in Judson Cemetery.
