Mrs. Martha Nell Phillips Maxie Minton departed this life on Wednesday, July 20, 2022 at her home in Sardis. She was a devoted wife and beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt. She was retired from Johnson Controls and was a faithful member of the Church of Christ. She was born on June 13, 1931 in Saltillo to the late Ovid Phillips and the late Mable Johnson. She was preceded in death by two husbands George Maxie and Dean Minton and her stepfather Maynard Johnson. She is survived by her daughter Georgette (Richard) Holland, two grandchildren Cristy (Patrick) Pettay and Brad (Holly) Holland, three great-grandchildren Cooper Pettay, Gage Holland, and Charlee Ferrell, one sister Gayle (J.W.) Creasy, one brother Brodie (Sue) Johnson and several special nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 23 beginning at 1:00 pm and funeral services will follow at 3:00pm at Pafford Funeral Home in Scotts Hill, TN. The family requests no food be brought to the funeral home and in lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Sardis Cemetery at The People’s Bank.
