Hubert Smith Pharr – Obituary

Hubert Smith Pharr, of Dennis, Miss., 86, died Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2013, at his residence. He was born Oct. 14, 1926, in Mississippi and was a pipeline engineer for 35 years. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served in the South Pacific inWorld War II and was an Expert Rifleman. He was a member of Second Street Church of Christ, Belmont, Miss.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 22, at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel, Belmont, Miss. with Ron Deaton and David Conley officiating. Burial will be in Belmont City Cemetery, Belmont, Miss. Deaton Funeral Home, Belmont, Miss. will be in charge of arrangements.

Survivors are his wife of 65 years, Marilyn Miller Pharr, Dennis, Miss.; one son, Danny Smith Pharr, Dennis, Miss.; three daughters, Sylvia Liles (Doug), Red Bay, Ala., Pat Deaton (Ron), Belmont, Miss., and Donna Geno (Charles), Booneville, Miss.; five grandchildren, Kevin Deaton (Jennifer), Kerry Deaton, Doug Liles Jr. (Lori), Sean Liles (Kristy) and Lindsey Pharr; and eight great-grandchildren, Hanna Deaton, Dylan Deaton, Kellee, Tessa, Lydia, Addyson and Hunter Breann Liles and Zoe Henley; and four sisters-in-law, Edna Pharr, Dorothy Pharr, Cutaw Pharr and Dean Pharr.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bolivar Smith Pharr and Sarah Montgomery Pharr; a grandson, Dustin Smith Pharr; a daughter-in-law, Myra Pharr; one sister, Allie Lee Hicks; six brothers, Delbert, Woodrow, R.C., Leonard, Esau and Cebron Pharr; and two nephews, David Pharr and Jackie Pharr.

Pallbearers will be Richard Pharr, Dennis Pharr, Gary Pharr, Jimmy Pharr, Doug Liles and Kevin Deaton.

Visitation will be 6-9 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 21, at Deaton Funeral Home, Belmont, Miss. and until service time on Friday.
