Samuel Jay “Sam” Neely, age 43, passed away unexpectedly Monday July 4, 2022. Sam was a Van Buren County native born on December 15, 1978 to the late J. C. and Laura Dodson Neely. Sam worked as a Corrections Officer for many years and was a carpenter.  He was a 1997 graduate of Van Buren County High School and was of the Freewill Baptist faith.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother; Steve Neely and sister-in-law; Julie Neely.

Sam is survived by his loving family, son; Blake Neely, daughters; Jade Neely and Aubree Neely, brothers; Roger (Stephanie) Neely, Michael (Cindy) Neely, Scott (Sasha) Neely, sister; Pat (Mike) Neely, grandchildren; Jahden Evans, Azilyn Evans, Taylor and Allie Hill, fiance`e; Letha Garrett, special life-long friends; Dean Scarborough and Benji Davis. Several nieces, nephews and extended family also survive.

Funeral services will be held Thursday July 7th at 1:00pm at Mooneyham Freewill Baptist Church with Bro. Wayne Sullivan and Bro. Johnathon Hankins officiating. Burial will follow in the Myers Cemetery.  Visitation will begin at 1:00pn Wednesday July 6th and will continue till time of service at 1:00pm Thursday July 7th. Visitation will be held at the church.
