Vina Man Charged With Attempted Murder

RED BAY-The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office issued a statement on the results of a manhunt that ended with the capture of a suspect wanted for attempted murder:

“On 28 June2022, deputies with the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office started an investigation into a shooting that occurred on Garrison Hollow Road outside of Red Bay city limits. The victim was transported by private vehicle to Red Bay Hospital with a gun shot wound to her arm.
The victim was ultimately transferred to Huntsville Hospital with critical injuries. The shooter was identified as Shannon Dale Hacker of Vina, Alabama. Hacker and the victim had been in a relationship when the shooting took place, and he is the one who drove the victim to the hospital.
After dropping the victim off, Hacker left the area, and a manhunt began. Hacker was arrested earlier today after a brief foot pursuit and is in the Franklin County Detention Center. He is charged with Attempted Murder, Assault 1st, Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance (methamphetamine), Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Attempting to Elude. More charges will be added later.
Law Enforcement in three states helped in locating and capturing Hacker. The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office would like to extend our appreciation to Red Bay Police Department, Russellville Police Department, Mississippi Highway Patrol, Tishomingo County Sheriff’s Office (MS), Itawamba County Sheriff’s Office (MS), Prentiss County Sheriff’s Office (MS), Lee County Sheriff’s Office (MS), Benton County Sheriff’s Office (MS), Saltillo Police Department (MS), Tupelo Police Department (MS), Natchez Trace Park Rangers, Mcnair County Sheriff’s Office (TN), and The US Marshall Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force.”
