Betty Jane Darnell, age 71 of Jackson, passed away on Wednesday, June 22, 2022 at her home in Jackson.
Betty was born on October 8, 1950 in Jackson, TN, the daughter of the late James William and Helen Stroud Darnell. Betty was a kind and giving woman and a mother to all children no matter if it was her own children or someone else’s. She was a lover of all kinds of animals. She had a “lift you up” spirit.
Betty always tried to help others in any way that she could. She was always willing to sit down with you and come up with a solution. She was a very outgoing lady who will be missed deeply by her family and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Danny Lee Darnell; the father of her children, Herman M. Rhodes.
She is survived by her children, Herman S. Rhodes and his wife, Misty, Robert Daniel Rhodes, and Rita Renee Rhodes; grandchildren, Jerry “Rowdy”, Bethany, Hunter, and Tyler Rhodes, Stephanie Hinson and husband, Kyle, Jessica Rhodes, and Baker Rhodes; eight great grandchildren; sister, Linda Strong.
The family will receive friends and loved ones on Tuesday, June 28, 2022 from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the South Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons. The funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. with burial following in Hollywood Cemetery.
