David Miller Cockrell, 81, of Decatur passed away on Monday, June 20, 2022. His visitation will be on Thursday, June 23, 2022, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Roselawn Funeral Home. A celebration of life service will follow at 6:00 PM in the chapel of the funeral home.
David is survived by his wife of 59 years, Deloyt Marks Cockrell; daughters, Kelly Dee Cockrell and Audra Cockrell Osborne (Todd); grandchildren, Sydnee Klyne Osborne and Larsen Kade Osborne.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Baron L. Cockrell and Theda Miller Cockrell; brother, Paul L. Cockrell.
David was a man with a heart of gold that loved his family so dearly. He loved anything that involved being outdoors. But especially his garden. That was his passion, and it showed. He could grow some of the best vegetables you would ever put on your kitchen table. NASCAR was on every Sunday, I’m sure he’ll take a lap with Dale Earnhardt with a smile on his face. He was outgoing, hilarious and never met a stranger. He was a dedicated father and grandfather. He loved the Lord, and we know he is so happy to finally be with Him. He was highly looked upon, and everyone that knew him is going to miss him so deeply.
