Gary Edward Armstrong was born on August 6, 1947 to James Edward and Rachel Marie Armstrong in Red Bay, AL. He moved to Illinois when he was four years old. It was there that he met his wife, Mari Anne Matsie in 1968. They married on October 14, 1972. Gary worked at Commonwealth Edison for thirty-five years. He was Past Master of Millburn Lodge in IL and Past Master of Unity #367 Lodge in Kenosha, WI. He was a Shriner and Scottish Rite in theValley of Chicago and a member of the Medinah Shrine in Chicago. He was Worthy Patron of Chapter #570 OES, Millburn, IL and Past Patron of Kenosha OES. Gary lived a full life in Kenosha, WI with his family until he passed on June 14, 2022 at Vista East Hospital in Waukegan, IL.

Services will be Thursday, June 23, 1 p.m. at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel, Belmont, MS with Bro. Clinton Barnett officiating.  Burial will be in Lindsey Cemetery, Dennis, MS. Deaton Funeral Home, Belmont, MS will be in charge of arrangements.

He is survived by his wife of forty-nine and one-half years – Mari Anne Armstrong; three children – Carrie Berry (Shaun), Daryl Armstrong and Charlie Armstrong (Elise); four grandchildren – Rachel DeVries (Alex), Sarah Berry, Elise Armstrong and Lorna Armstrong; two great-grandchildren – Reagan and Emma DeVries; one brother – Jeffrey Keith Armstrong (Lori); one nephew – A.J. Armstrong (Stephanie); one great-niece – Ayla and Mari Anne’s numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Pallbearers will be Daryl Armstrong, Charlie Armstrong, Kyle Conway, Alex DeVries, Jeff Armstrong and A.J. Armstrong.

Visitation will be Thursday, June 23, 11-1 p.m. at Deaton Funeral Home, Belmont, MS.
