Charles “Chuck” Delano McWhorter, of Huntsville, passed from this life on Sunday, June 19, 2022 at the age of 85.
Charles was born in Cleburn County, AL to William Arthur and Lucy McWhorter who preceded him in death, along with one brother, Clyde McWhorter of Carrollton, GA. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Kathryn; daughters, Melanie McWhorter Tuggle and son-in-law Blake Tuggle of Tullahoma, TN and Lori McWhorter and future son-in-law Tom Gilbert of New Orleans, LA; grandchildren, Austin and Shayla Jones; great-grandchildren, Hunter Jones of Nolensville, TN and Hailey Jones of Murfreesboro, TN; brothers: Claude McWhorter (Brenda) of Fruithurst, AL, William Arthur, Jr. (Carolyn) of Marietta, GA and Gary McWhorter (Teresa) of Bremen, GA; sisters-in-law, Carol Hudson of Greenville, SC and Linda McWhorter of Carrollton, GA.
He graduated from Georgia Tech with a BS Degree in Electrical Engineering and was drafted into the US Army as a 2nd Lieutenant. Charles worked for Teledyne Brown Engineering as a Division Manager for over 30 years. He was a member of Highlands Baptist Church for over 50 years and served several years as Treasurer. Charles loved GT sports, Atlanta Braves baseball and playing golf.
Visitation will be Thursday, June 23rd from 3:00 – 4:00 PM at Berryhill Funeral Home followed by service at 4:00. Honorary pallbearers will be Claude McWhorter, William Arthur McWhorter, Jr., Gary McWhorter, Blake Tuggle, Tom Gilbert, Austin Jones and Mike Blocker.
