FLORENCE-The 1st Annual Juneteenth Celebration sponsored by the University of North Alabama and the City of Florence was held this past Sunday to celebrate the important day of Freedom from Slavery.

The Emancipation Celebration was held June 19th from 1PM until 8PM at Lewis Field in West Florence.  There was grilling on site with hot dogs, hamburgers with chips.  Also fun activities for the kids, spoken word poetry as well as vendors.  Live music for your enjoyment was awesome with a Florence Police Department demo.

Fun was had by everyone as Freedom from Slavery was celebrated and the Quad Cities Daily was on hand to capture this 1st annual event in photos.

Enjoy!
