Mr. Van Perry Bledsoe Van Perry Bledsoe, 73, of Lexington, TN went home to be with his heavenly father on June 12, 2022.

He was born July 20, 1948, in Milan, TN, the second of four children born to the late Harvey Lynn Bledsoe and Thelma Evelyn (Tomlinson) Bledsoe.

He was a 1966 graduate of Milan High School and studied at Freed-Hardeman College.

Van served his country as a Sergeant in the US Air Force. He was decorated with the US Air Force Commendation Medal for meritorious service at Dover AFB, Delaware. He was credited with outstanding achievement by administering artificial respiration to a child who had stopped breathing.

He married Sherry Ellen McGill on May 4, 1973, in Trenton, TN. They were blessed with 2 children and remained partners in life until his death.

Van worked for the US Postal Service for 44 years, serving as Lexington, TN Postmaster for the last 21 years before retiring in 2017. He served as a member of the Henderson County School Board for 12 years, a member of the Lexington Rotary Club, and was a member of the Church of Christ.

In addition to his parents, Van was preceded in death by his sister, Faye Farrell, mother-in-law, Shirley McGill, son-in-law, Dan Semich, and sister-in-law Becky Bledsoe.

Van is survived by his wife, Sherry, and 2 children; a son, Andrew Bledsoe (Brenda), and a daughter, Dixie Semich; a sister, Annette Archie (Richard); a brother, Russell Bledsoe; and brothers-in-law, Rick McGill (Carrie), and Patrick McGill (Farjana). He also leaves to cherish his memory a granddaughter, Breanna Bledsoe, and an honorary granddaughter, Aubrea Peña, who both lovingly called him Gramps.

Memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, June 25th at Pafford Funeral Home, 71 Monroe Avenue, Lexington, TN. Visitation with the family will start at 9:00 AM and continue until service time on Saturday.
