Mary Louise Vaughn Manning passed away on June 17th, 2022. She was born in Huntsville, AL on West Holmes Street, near Pinhook Creek on December 16th, 1925, to William Yancey Vaughn II and Lena Maie Phillips Vaughn. She graduated from Huntsville High (now the Annie C. Merts Center) in 1943. In 1948, she married Thomas J. ‘Tommy’ Manning Jr., also HHS c/o 1943. Tommy’s job took them to Wilmington, Ohio, N. California, and to Augusta, GA where their daughter, Mary Kathryn ‘Kathy’ was born. They returned to Huntsville in 1951. In 1952, Mary Louise began her career in the legal field, working in the Circuit Clerk’s office and then was later employed as a legal secretary. She spent 50+ years in the legal field and retired from Lanier, Ford, Shaver & Payne in 2003.

Mary Louise was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 40 years; her daughter; her son-in-law, Larry N. Strong; her brothers, William ‘Bill’ Yancey Vaughn III and Solon ‘Bud’ Phillips Vaughn; sisters-in-law, Jo Ann Vaughn (Solon), Mary Ellen Vaughn (Bill), and in-laws, J.W and Catherine Manning Roper.

She is survived by her granddaughter, Kathryn Harbour and husband Scott; great-grandsons, Dylan Thomas Harbour and Ian Michael Harbour; several nieces and nephews; and many friends.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 21, 2022, at Laughlin Service Funeral Home. There will be a private family service.

In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Jude’s Children Hospital are appreciated.
