FLORENCE-The Florence-Lauderdale Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB) will once again host the TBF High School World Finals. Scheduled to begin on Wednesday, June 22, teams began arriving in The Shoals early last week and will stay through until Sunday, June 26.

With 426 boats registered for the event, The Bass Federation tournament could see as many as 852 anglers, including a captain, in each boat making the field an impressive 1,278 participants. Association and event officials have said they could see as many as 2000-3000 people here each day.  Hotels, restaurants and other retail and service industries should see a significant lift in business.

Tyler Dolan, Sales Manager for Sport & Travel Trade with the Florence-Lauderdale Convention & Visitors Bureau, has overseen multiple tournaments in the area over the last 5 years that have had a profound impact on the area, but nothing quite like this tournament.  “In 2019, this tournament delivered almost $2.2 million in economic impact to the Florence and Shoals area. With more boats registered this year than in 2019, that number should be much greater for the ’22 tourney,” said Dolan.

Teams from all over North America including a team from Zimbabwe, South Africa will fish next week for the chance to win a new boat as the number one team in the TBF World Finals.

“We feel a tremendous sense of honor and gratitude to have this event here in Florence. It is a competitive environment in which to host these tournaments, but both Pickwick and Wilson Lakes have an international reputation for great fishing”, said Dolan.

Registration will begin Tuesday at the Florence Coliseum with an opening banquet to follow. Anglers will fish Wednesday through Saturday.
