William "Skip" Hollis Bottoms, Jr. William Hollis “Skip” Bottoms, Jr., age 76, resident of Columbia, Tennessee, passed away on Friday, June 10, 2022, at NHC Columbia.

 

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 14, 2022 at 2:00PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Brother Rock Jaggers officiating with military honors provided by the Army National Guard.  Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens.  A visitation will be held on Monday, June 13, 2022 from 4:00 PM – 7:00PM at the funeral home.  Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

 

Skip was born on December 6, 1945, in Columbia and was the son of the late William Hollis Bottoms, Sr. and the late Bessie Lou Beard Bottoms.

 

Skip was a graduate of Hay Long High School in Mt. Pleasant and served in the National Guard from which he retired after 40 years.  He was a member of the Jackson Heights Church of Christ. Skip earned the rank of Command Sergeant Major while serving in the National Guard.  After his retirement, he worked at the armory in Nashville. Skip was also a former member of the Rotary Club and a member of the National Guard Association.   Among his hobbies and favorite past times were fishing, history, and table tennis (at one time ranked in the state).  His granddaughters and special friend, Nancy Belew, were dearly loved by Skip.

 

Skip is survived by his son, Dalivus (Maiko) Morgan, grandchildren, Emily. Auricle, Aurelia and Aveline Morgan and special friend, Nancy Belew

 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sons, William Christopher Bottoms and Richard Jeremy Bottoms, sisters, Doris Jaggers and Wilma Varnado.

 

Pallbearers will be Frank Varnado, Brian Varnado, Jay Varnado, Berry Weaver, Lake Lomax and Main James.
