Edward Harvey Davis, Jr., 94, passed away June 8, 2022, at North Mississippi Medical Center – Tupelo. He was born September 8, 1927, to Harvey and Lilla Adams Davis here in Iuka, Mississippi. At age 18, he joined the U.S. Army and served in Manila, Philippines during World War II. He returned home to marry Virginia Hale, and together they had three boys: Eddie, Jerry “Doodle”, and Mike. He worked construction for a good portion of his life, where he got to travel with his job. Edward especially loved bluegrass and would often travel to bluegrass festivals held throughout the South. He also loved to farm. He would plant turnip greens in front of his house, so anyone passing by could pick some for their dinner.

Edward leaves behind his son, Mike Davis (Jane) ;  his daughters-in-law, Sherry Honeycutt Davis and Linda Richardson Davis-Fulghum; his seven grandchildren, Kerry Davis (Tabitha), Lorie McCalmon (Michael), Kelly Bowers, Shelly Davis, Jenny Riley (Mike), Susan Thompson (Brad), and Chris Davis; his great-grandchildren, Josh McCalmon (Morgan), Stephen McCalmon, Caleb McCalmon, Tyler Cutshall, Bryson Bowers, Hunter Thompson, Gracyn Bowers, Hannon Thompson, Daniel Davis, Mackenzie Riley, Brady Riley, and Mason Davis; his step-great-grandchild, Laiken Dunmon; his great-great-grandchildren, Aiden McCalmon and Braeligh McCalmon; and one nephew, Byron Davis (Janet). He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Hale Davis; his parents, Harvey and Lilla Davis; two sons, Eddie and Jerry Davis; one brother, Harold Davis; and one niece, Judy Malenky.

Cutshall Funeral Home of Iuka, MS is entrusted with the arrangements.  There will be a one-hour visitation beginning at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 11, 2022, at Mt. Gilead Cemetery. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m., officiated by Bro. Mark Jones. Pallbearers include Michael McCalmon, Chris Davis, Brad Thompson, Kerry Davis, Byron Davis, and Mike Riley. Honorary pallbearers include all of Edward’s grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and the rest of his family.  Burial will follow at Mt. Gilead Cemetery. Donations may be made in Edward’s honor to Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital.
