Dr. Hobert Ralph Winton, 85, of Huntsville, passed away Wednesday, May 4, 2022. Dr. Winton was born in Gadsden, Alabama. He went on to graduate from Gadsden High School, the University of Alabama, and the Southern College of Optometry, where he earned his Doctor of Optometry. Dr. Winton practiced optometry in Huntsville for over 40 years and served as a past president of the Alabama Optometric Association and an adjunct professor at the University of Alabama Birmingham School of Optometry. He was an active member in many organizations including the Huntsville Rotary Club, Sertoma Club, Huntsville Quarterback Club, and Habitat for Humanity. Dr. Winton’s passions included family, playing golf, and Alabama football.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Hobert Reid Winton and Willie Sue Mooney Winton; and infant daughter, Leeann Emilie Winton. Survivors include his wife, Connie Winton; daughter, Pam Fisher; sons, Scott Winton (Tammy) and Kenneth Winton (Jammie); stepchildren, Greg Ives and Kellie Ball (Charles); grandchildren, Jason Fisher (Nicole), Sarah Finley (Bobby), Julia Grace Winton, Riley Winton and Reid Winton; and step grandchildren, Olivia Ives, Christopher Ball, and Cooper Ball.

Visitation will be from 1:00- 2:30 p.m. Saturday, May 7, 2022, at Trinity United Methodist Church. The funeral service will follow at 2:30 with Rev. Mac Buttram officiating. There will be a private family burial in Maple Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s Foundation of America or Trinity United Methodist Church
