FLORENCE-World-class storytellers and musicians will be in Florence, AL at the Shoals Theatre on May 19, 20 and 21 to regale expected crowds with tales of heart, humor and music.  The Shoals Storytelling Festival continues with the 11th annual event in the north Alabama area.

The Shoals area is certainly no stranger to festivals.  “Our area hosts the George Lindsey Film Festival and is home to many fantastic events like the Shoals Symphony, W.C. Handy Music Festival, the Renaissance Faire and the Helen Keller Festival annually, “said Debbie Chaffin, UNA professor emeritus and chairman of the storytelling festival. “Arts Alive Festival will also be the same weekend as the Storytelling Festival.” Chaffin is working with a committee composed of retired university personnel and community leaders to organize the storytelling event.

“We’re so excited to have national speakers and musicians like Donald Davis, Bil Lepp, Dolores Hydock and Elizabeth Ellis as featured tellers,” said Chaffin.  “We also have an incredible lineup of musicians, which includes Mac McAnally, Walt Aldridge and Lenny LeBlanc who will tell stories behind their many hit songs and records.  People have already purchased tickets from Indiana, Missouri, Florida, Tennessee, Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina and as far south as Mobile.”

Tickets for the festival will be available at shoalsstorytelling.com and the Shoals Theatre Box Office on the days of the performances.

Admission for the entire Three-Day event, including the Saturday night music, is $95.00.  This includes over 20 hours of phenomenal entertainment.

Individual tickets are available for $50 per day and $50 for the Saturday evening music event.

The Shoals Storytelling Festival is co-sponsored by the Muscle Shoals National Heritage Area and the Alabama State Council on the Arts.
