Ila Sue Appleton, 74, of Florence passed away Saturday, April 30, 2022 at North Alabama Medical Center. Mrs. Appleton was born, March 23, 1948, in Moulton, to Burgess Craig and Bonnie Bradford. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. on Wednesday, May 4, 2022 at Lawrence Funeral Home. The graveside service will immediately follow at 3:30 p.m. at Fergason Cemetery with Bro. Mrs. Appleton’s greatest accomplishment was her grandchildren. She was a lifetime member of Owen Chapel Baptist Church where she lead the congregational singing for many years. Mrs. Appleton considered her church family to be like her own, and the family would like to give their thanks to them for the love and compassion they always gave. When Sue wasn’t singing in church she was dancing and cheering on the Braves or the Alabama Crimson Tide in her living room with the love of her life.

Survivors include Sue’s loving husband of 58 years Tommy Appleton of Florence; one son, Chad Appleton (Deena) of Florence; six grandchildren, Wesley, Rachael, Dylan, Daniel, Kalena, and Bentley.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Bonita Byars; and two brothers, David Craig, and John Craig.

Pallbearers will be Wesley Biffle, Dylan Biffle, Daniel Biffle, Jason Byars, Jim Byars, and Craig Byars.
