James A. Murphree, 83, of Moulton passed away Wednesday, April 20, 2022 at his home. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. till noon on Saturday, April 23, 2022 at Life Center Fellowship in Moulton. The memorial service will follow at noon on Saturday at the church with Craig Johnston officiating. Lawrence Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Born on April 16, 1939 to the late Thomas and Pauline Montgomery Murphree, James worked at the Shelton Phillip 66 station for 15 years. He served in the Army National Guard and loved yardsales and auctions.

Survivors include his daughter-in-law, Donna Mansel; special “granddaughter”, Maddie Trapp; brothers, Charles E. Murphree, and Dwight Murphree; sister, Sue M. Nelson; special friend, Patsy Ayers; four-legged friend, Cocoa; and lots of nieces, nephews, and extended family.

James was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Dorothy Marie Potter; and brother, Jerry Royce Murphree.

The family extends special thanks to Hospice of the Valley; Decatur Morgan 4th floor nurses and doctors; Chris Murpy, Karen Blagburn, Tabatha and Tiffany Steeples, Amy Adams, and Tricia.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of the Valley.
