Mrs. Joyce Marie Prater, age 68 of the Piney Community, went to be with the Lord on April 20, 2022 from an extended illness. Joyce was born in Bledsoe County on January 13, 1954 to the late Charlie and Neva Mathis Webb. She was of the Church of God faith (Brockdell), she loved to travel and collected ink pens.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of forty-six years, Rayburn Prater, brothers; Tom, James and Charles Webb, sister; Josie Rainey and nephew; Trampus Holloway.
Joyce is survived by her sisters; Wilma (Jimmy) Webb, Nancy (Tommy) Holloway, special niece/caregiver; Tera (Barry) Wooden, niece; Tabitha (Terry Floyd) Webb, great nieces/nephews; Wyatt, Dakota and Dalton Wooden, Katlin (Steven) Scott, Samantha, Tara, Tanner and Taylor Floyd, great-great nieces; Scarlett Wooden and Brexley Scott. A large extended family also survives.
A graveside service will be held Saturday May 7, 2022 at 2:00pm at Dunn Cemetery (Bledsoe County Lowes Gap Rd) Spring City, TN. Bro. Darrell Nance will officiate the service. There will be no visitation at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers the family request donations to Saint Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
