Janie Edith Thomas Lambert, 89, of Athens passed away Tuesday, April 12, at the home of her daughter in Decatur, AL. She was born September 2, 1932 in Limestone County, AL to James Isaac Thomas and Georgie Edith Henderson Thomas.

She was a Music and English teacher at Athens Middle school for 30 years. Mrs. Lambert loved Jesus and she taught Sunday school at Isoms Chapel Methodist Church for years. Mrs. Lambert had a gifted voice; she sang and played organ and piano at Isom’s most of her life. She was foremost a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister.

Mrs. Lambert is preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Robert Lakin Lambert, and son Lakin Lambert.

Survivors include her daughter Lora Warren (Lance) of Decatur, AL; daughter in law Mary Beth Lambert of Athens; four grandchildren Jeremy Lakin Lambert (Tara) of Athens, Wesley Warren (Danielle) of Decatur, AL, Jake Lambert (Amber) of Athens, and Keri Sebesta (Patrick) of Decatur, AL; one brother James Thomas (Mary) of Madison, AL; three sisters Marie Rich (Jimmy) of Athens, Inez Lester of California, Juanita Turpin of Texas; and four great grandchildren Collin Lambert, Paizlee Lambert, Raylan Lambert, and Samuel Lambert.

There will be a Celebration of Life on Friday April 15, 2022 at McConnell Funeral Home at 4 P.M. with Ron Lambe and Bill Stone officiating. Visitation will be from 3:00 to 4:00 P.M.
