Floyd Robinson – Obituary

FloydFloyd Robinson, age 94 of Cullman, AL, formerly of Addison, entered into rest on Sunday, February 10, 2013 in Ocala, Florida.

He was born on July 2, 1918 in Gainesboro, Tennessee to Simeon and Geneva Steakley Robinson. Mr. Robinson proudly served his country for four years in the United States Army. He served during WWII in New Guinea and was awarded the Silver Star. After his military tour ended, he worked in Detroit, Michigan as a machinist for over 40 years. He was a member of Northside Baptist Church in Cullman for 25 years. His hobbies included playing jokes on family and friends, working on cars, and he was a prolific reader.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 12, 2013 from 6-8pm at Nichols Funeral Home in Addison, where funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11am. Brother Dennis Trimble will officiate. Burial will be in Baldwin Heights Baptist Church Cemetery.

He is survived by his sons, Dr. Phillip Robinson and his wife Rebecca, LTC Chris Robinson and his wife Nancy; daughter, Brenda Turner and her husband Paul; brothers, Carl (Grace) Robinson, Robert (Betty) Robinson; Glen (Doris) Robinson; sister, Reba (Bill) Curlee; 11 grandchildren, Kevin Turner, Doug Turner, John Robinson, Phillip Robinson, Jimmy Robinson, Megan Robinson, Katie Robinson, Alex Robinson, Jennifer Robinson, Laura Robinson, Andy Robinson; 3 great grandchildren, Harley Turner, Madeline Turner and Madison Robinson, and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Etsel Burks Robinson; parents, Simeon and Geneva Steakley Robinson; daughter, Carolyn Robinson; brothers, Kenneth Robinson, Gloyd Robinson; sisters, Beatrice Robinson, Irene Robinson and Mildred Reeder.
