Mr. Marion Willie Newby, age 90, passed from this life Sunday March 27, 2022 at his home with his loving wife and family at his bedside. Willie was born on February 22, 1932 to the late Fredrick and Roxie McCardle Newby. He was a U.S. Army veteran and served during the Korean War, was retired from Tropicana Products and was a member of Spencer Church of God.

Willie was a loving husband, father, grandpa, great-grandpa, great-great-grandpa and a loving friend to anyone that knew him. He loved working in his garden, fishing on the river and being with his family. He loved and lived life to its fullest. A faithful member of Spencer Church of God for twenty-two years, he loved leading the singing and playing his harmonica. He also loved passing out Tootsie Rolls to the children at church but would give them to everyone because we are all children at heart.

In addition to his parents, Willie was preceded in death by brother; Jeff Newby and Sister; Frannie Lee.

Willie is survived by his loving family, wife; Wilma Haney Newby, children; Roger Scarlett, Deborah Smith, Mary, Elaine, Dinata and Joe Newby. Grandchildren; Amy Yates, Jesse (Amanda) Smith, Nicole (Brian) Wilson, Matt (Sarah) Scarlett, great-grandchildren; Rhiannon, Dryston, Jacob, Harmony, Casey (Serena), Tristan, Bryce, Hayden and Kason, great-great-grandchildren; Ayden, Sebastian and Carson, brothers; Windell Newby, George (Ruby) Newby, sisters; Mary Harrell and Lois Newby.

Pallbearers; Amy Yates, Jesse Smith, Casey Smith, Tristan Smith, Samuel Graham and David Rogers.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday March 30, 2022 at 2:00pm in the Layne Chapel with Bro. Jason Graham officiating. Burial will follow in the Spencer Town Cemetery. Visitation times are Tuesday 4:00pm to 9:00pm and Wednesday 10:00am till time of service at 2:00pm.
