Leighton – A Tuscumbia woman was arrested by Leighton police this morning after a high speed chase. 33-year old Andrea Johnson of Spring Valley Road was taken into custody after she allegedly led Leighton, Colbert County Sheriff Deputies and Alabama Highway Patrol vehicles on a high speed chase. The incident took place about 9:00 AM. The incident began when Leighton Police tried to make a traffic stop for speeding, however, according to Chief Brandon Hood, Johnson would not voluntarily pull her vehicle over. Evidently, the reason for her failing to comply, was that, according to Chief Hood, the car she was driving, a 2005 Honda Civic, was stolen from Muscle Shoals.
After a pursuit through Eastern Colbert County, Johnson apparently lost control of her vehicle on Jarmon Cove Road. Johnson was also found to have warrants against her with Muscle Shoals Police. She was taken into custody at approx 9:20 AM and charged with Reckless endangerment, and several other traffic offenses and was booked into the Colbert County Jail.
