Arrest Made In Weekend Shooting In Muscle Shoals

MUSCLE SHOALS-The Muscle Shoals Police Department issued a statement regarding the shooting that took place on January 23.  A suspect has been arrested and the name of the victim has been released:

“UPDATE: SHOOTING INVESTIGATION
ARREST MADE! During the investigation of a male gunshot victim at 1901 Sheffield Ave in Muscle Shoals that took place on the evening of January 23, 2022, the following has been concluded:
The victim, Chavious McCoy, 19, of Muscle Shoals, AL, was transported to North Alabama Medical Center with a gunshot wound to the leg. The injury has been deemed non-life threatening and McCoy is expected to make a full recovery.
Information and facts gathered from the scene lead to the arrest of Elisiah Jawan Willis, 19, of Tuscumbia, AL. A Warrant of Arrest for Attempted Murder was obtained for Willis on January 24, 2022. Willis was taken into custody in Madison, AL following a traffic stop initiated by the ALEA Huntsville and Madison Trooper Posts, along with Officers and Deputies from Madison City Police Department and Madison County Sheriff’s Department. Willis was immediately transported to to the Muscle Shoals Police Department as a person-of-interest and interviewed by Detectives regarding the incident. On the following morning of 1/24/22, a Warrant of Arrest for Attempted Murder was obtained for Willis. Willis was then transported and booked into the Colbert County Jail on a $150,000 Bond.
The investigation also lead Detectives to obtain a Warrant of Arrest for Attempted Murder for Javious Omar Thompson, 20, of Florence, AL. Thompson is currently at large and wanted by the Muscle Shoals Police Department for that charge.
