Peter Kratohvil, Jr.

Mr. Peter Kratohvil, Jr., age 96, passed away quietly on Christmas Day. He is preceded in death by his parents, Lena Chambers and Peter Kratohvil, Sr., of Cullman, Alabama, his brother, Billy Joe Kratohvil of Sumiton, Alabama, his wife, (Mother of his sons) Clara June Kirk Kratohvil, and his second wife, Joanne D. Walker of Albertville, Alabama.

Pete attended Saint Bernard Academy in Cullman and trained at the Naval Academies in Seattle and Minneapolis. From 1943-1946, he honorably served his country working as an Electrician’s Mate on the hospital ship USS Hope. After the war, Pete managed Goodyear Tire Stores in Fayette, Anniston, and Cullman. He later managed the Huntsville store.

He was an active member of Highlands United Methodist Church of Huntsville. He loved the outdoors especially when he was camping, fishing, or tending his vegetable gardens. He also enjoyed gem and mineral collecting and jewelry making.

He is survived by his sons, Steve (Paula) Kratohvil of Flower Mound, Texas; Greg (Jan) Kratohvil of Florence, Alabama, and Dan (Jennifer) Kratohvil of Guntersville, Alabama. He will also be remembered fondly and missed by his six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
