Raymond Walker Haynes, 87, of Athens, passed away Saturday, October 23, 2021 at Limestone Health Facility.
Family and friends are invited to attend his service at Spry Funeral home on Thursday, October 28, 2021. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am with the service to follow at 11:00 am. Burial will be in the Athens City Cemetery.
Mr. Haynes was born July 1, 1934 to the late Lee Haynes Sr. and Mable Howard Haynes near Waterloo, AL.
He was preceded in death by infant son Raymond W. Haynes Jr., parents, sisters: Estelle Abernathy and Linda Richardson, brother: Ted Haynes.
Mr. Haynes is survived by his wife of 66 years Carolyn Coleman Haynes, sons: Greg (Kristina) Haynes of Harvest and Jeff (Michelle) Haynes of Birmingham. Mr. Haynes was the proud grandfather of five grandchildren and four great grandchildren., Tyler (Philippa) Haynes, Troy and Pippa of Simpsonville, SC. Brett (Kaylee) Haynes, Zachary and Oliver of Lynnville, TN, Hunter Haynes of Birmingham, Anna Haynes and William Haynes of Harvest, brother: Lee Haynes Jr of Athens, sister: Cathy Putman of Athens. Pallbearers will be: Tyler Haynes, Hunter Haynes, Brett Haynes, Neal Coleman, Heath Putman and Doug Haynes.
Memorials can be made to 1st Baptist Church of Athens and Hospice of Limestone County.
