April 28, 1936 – September 25, 2021

Dot passed away peacefully surrounded by family on September 25, 2021. Dot was born April 28, 1936, in Bessemer, Alabama. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Alabama and was a lifelong football fan. To say she loved the Tide is an understatement. She knew all the players’ names and positions and took great pleasure in rooting for her team! After college, Dot had a family and moved to Huntsville. Once her girls were school age, she herself went to UAH and received her Master’s in Education. She had a long career with Huntsville City Schools and especially enjoyed her years teaching the SPACE students. After retirement she joined the Peace Corps and had many adventures both in the Dominican Republic and traveling the world. Beloved mother, wife, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend, Dot was preceded in death by her parents, aunts, uncles, and the love of her life, husband Kildere Franco. She is survived by her daughters, Michele Millirons Collins (Bill), and Paula Millirons; grandchildren, Heidi Koelle, Emily Koelle, Richard Collins, and Rachel Collins; sister, Louise Rosinski (Klaus); nephew, Kurt Rosinski; niece, Karen McBride (Dennis); and numerous great nieces and nephews. A life well lived, Dot left nothing undone and nothing unsaid. Her legacy is speaking the truth, but always with kindness and compassion. She will be greatly missed, but forever in our hearts. A private service will be scheduled at a later time. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Hospice Family Care or your favorite charity.
