Claudia Derrick Westerfeldt Claudia Derrick Westerfeldt, 83, of Huntsville, AL passed away September 21, 2021. Claudia was born on November 18, 1937, a daughter of the late Claud Lester and Rose Cochran Derrick. She grew up at her home on “The Hill” in Clayton, GA. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert “Bob” Westerfeldt; son, Robert Westerfeldt; and sister, Ruth Derrick Mellor. Survivors include her nephew, Philip F. Mellor, Jr.; great niece, Rebekah Ketterman; sister-in-law, Maren Caldwell; niece, Susan Beisert; daughter-in-law, Teri Neumann Leffer; as well as her many cousins. Claudia was married to Bob for 59 years. During Bob’s extensive military and civilian careers, they traveled overseas and to many of the States visiting the Presidential libraries. Second to her love for Bob, she adored their son, Robert, and lived to make Bob and Robert’s life full of happiness and joy to which she was very successful. Over the years, Claudia was an active member of the Ledges book club and volunteered at many local benevolent groups. She was an avid animal activist and through the years endeared herself to several house cats. She was known by her friends and family as a wonderful storyteller. A graveside service will be at 4:00 PM, Sunday, September 26th, 2021, at Maple Hill Cemetery in Huntsville. The family requests that memorials be made to the Cystic Fibrosis foundation in honor of Bob and Claudia’s adored son, Robert Westerfeldt or to a charity of your choice.
