On Friday, January 1, 2021, Robert Butler, loving husband, father and grandfather, passed away the day before his 85th birthday. Robert was born in Iron City, Tennessee to Katie and Luther Butler. He was preceded in death by his parents and ten siblings.

Robert was honored to have served in the United States Air Force for 21 years, from 1953 to 1974. He had many stories to share from his time in the military and deployment assignments overseas, including Guam, Germany, Vietnam, and Japan. He received the Bronze Star and later retired from the military. He subsequently worked in air conditioning and refrigeration services managing a high rise retirement facility in Orlando, Florida . He retired in 1986 to a life of camping, fishing including catching catfish at the Tennessee river, and crafting in his wood shop. Robert made many wonderful wood pieces, such as chiming clocks, a fishing boat, tables, desks, Adirondack chairs, and swings that will be treasured by his family.

Robert is survived by his wife, JoAnn Williams, and three children, Gary Butler, Shannon Gamble, and Terry Ann Grady. He left behind seven grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. He enjoyed visiting his family, who were spread throughout Tennessee, Georgia, and Florida. The family and firends will miss his calming demeanor, sweet smile, caring heart, and teasing nature.
