Melvin 'Mel' Springfield Melvin Springfield, passed away Tuesday morning September 9th at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.

He was born and reared in Twin Falls, Idaho the son of the late George Thomas and Dorothy Maxine Fuller Springfield. He graduated from Benson Tech in Portland, Oregon and Conqueror Bible College. He served as a youth minister in Albany, Oregon. He moved to Canada and served as an assistant pastor in Brockville, Ontario Canada. He taught Bible College in Picton Ontario and later in Toronto. He married Kay Bell in 1966. They made their home in Brockville and Picton. They pastored a church in Belleville Ontario. They moved to Dearborn Heights Michigan where they started a church and pastored in that area for 27 years, 1971 to 1997. They retired and moved to Arizona and made their home in Chandler. They moved to Henderson in 2011.

He had served in the United Pentecostal Church as secretary on the Board of Christian Education International for 17 years. He worked at US Airways when they lived in Phoenix. They enjoyed Bible study groups in their home while living in Dearborn they served The Christian Life Center. After his first stroke in 2004, he was honored by the City of Tempe for his outstanding determination to recover and remain active.

He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Kay Bell Springfield; daughter, Stephanie Colegrove (Harold) of Romulus, MI; and two grandchildren, Jonathan Colegrove ( fiancé Emma Hernandez) and Zoe.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, William Springfield.

Funeral services will be 11 AM Saturday September 18th at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue Chapel with Rev. Harold Jaco and Stephanie Colegrove officiating. Burial will follow in the Henderson City Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5 PM until 8 PM Friday at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue Chapel.
