Mrs. Dorothy Louise BeasleyDorothy Louise Beasley, age 84, from Arab, passed away September 4, 2021 at Hospice Family Care in Huntsville.
She was born in Etowah County, AL on March 9, 1937, to the late Lucille and Harvey Pinson Sr.
Dorothy was a member of Gilliam Springs Baptist Church for over 60 years, where she started the first church library and was the first church staff secretary. She enjoyed her roses and crepe myrtle trees. Dorothy loved spending time with her family and going on trips with her husband and 3 daughters (the Original Five).
Dorothy is survived by her husband of 65 years and 2 months, Marvin Beasley; daughters Teresa (Grady) Hester, Linda (Russell) Gregory and Sandy (Mark) McDonald; grandchildren Paige (Evan) Gossett, Amber (Michael) Greenhaw, Scott (Angie) Hester, Brittany Reid, Crystal (Matthew) Whisenant, Jacob (Abigail) McDonald and Rachel (Drew) Davis; great grandchildren Madison, Sarah, Jordan, Brianna, Elijah, Henry, Gretta, Grayson, Jaxon, Hailey, Louie, Adalyn, Alyssa and Bethany. She is also survived by her brother Harvey Pinson Jr., sisters Helen Brothers, Barbara Broome and Beth Dial.
In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her brother Richard Pinson, son-in-law Jim Travis and grandson-in-law Chris Reid.
Over a period of several years, she and her husband were loving foster parents to over 30 children, in particular Ann Bolding and Jeanie Anderson.
Pallbearers include Scott Hester, Jacob McDonald, Drew Davis, Matthew Whisenant, Nic Knighten and Will Harbison.
Honorary pallbearers include Michael Greenhaw, Evan Gossett, Jordan Enlow, Henry Hester, Elijah Travis, Grayson Whisenant, Jaxon Reid and Louie Hester.
Visitation will be from 5-7 pm, September 8, at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel and from 1 to 2, September 9, at Gilliam Springs Baptist Church. Service will immediately follow at 2:00 pm with Rev. Frank Whitaker, Rev. Max Roden and Rev.Jamey Pruett.
Dorothy will be laid to rest at Gilliam Springs Baptist Church cemetery with Arab Heritage Memorial assisting the family.
