Bonnie Ruth Barrett Strickland was born on July 16, 1934 in Itawamba County, MS. She left this world from Marion Regional Nursing Home to go to her Heavenly home on August 23, 2021 at the age of 87. She was a devoted wife of sixty-four years and a loving Mother and Nana. She was a meticulous house keeper and a wonderful cook. She loved preparing meals for her family, loved ones and neighbors. She enjoyed crocheting and working in her flower garden and traveling until she was no longer able. She worked at various places in town and was loved by all that met her.

Services will be Wednesday, August 25, 4 p.m. at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel, Red Bay, AL with Jarod Massey and Jimmy Berry officiating. Burial will be in Halltown Cemetery, Vina, AL. Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, AL will be in charge of arrangements.

She is survived by her son – Terry Strickland (Cyndi) Belmont, MS; daughter – Dena Dempsey (Chuck) Hamilton, AL; three grandchildren – Trent Strickland, Savannah Hall and Shelby Pope and one great-grandson – Caeson Pope.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Strickland, a grandson, Alex Hall, her parents, Homer and Emma Barrett and a sister, Wonnie Jones.

Pallbearers will be David Jones, Trent Strickland, Stuart Strickland, Mark Massey, Jeremy Winters and Brock Raper.

Visitation will be Wednesday, August 25, 2-4 p.m. at Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, AL.
