TUSCUMBIA– The Tennessee Valley Museum of Art is hosting its 59th annual member exhibition, ArtWorks, from July 16 through August 13. The art show includes over 100 pieces of art by more than 50 local and regional artists who are members of the Tennessee Valley Art Association (TVAA), which runs the museum and the Ritz Theatre. The exhibition includes a wide variety of art including sculptures, paintings, digital animation, drawings, textiles, and woodworking.

Jennifer Butler Keeton, the art association’s marketing director, says that ArtWorks is a great opportunity for the community to see the huge amount of artistic talent right here in the Tennessee Valley.

“When people come to view ArtWorks, they will walk away with a strong sense of how deep and eclectic the visual

arts talent is in the Shoals,” saids Keeton. “You’re certain to see some pieces that you love, and with over 50 artists, you may even know someone in the show. Many of the pieces are available for sale, too, so it’s a great chance to find a piece of art for your home while supporting a local artist.”

TVAA members are also invited to the ArtWorks member reception on Saturday, July 24, from 1:00-3:00 p.m. Membership starts at just $25 and includes free entry to the museum, discounts on workshops, and entry into next year’s member show.

Hours for the Tennessee Valley Museum of Art are Tuesday-Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is $5 for adults, $3 for students, and free for members. Admission is also free for education, healthcare, and first responder workers, as part of the Arts for the Frontline program, sponsored by Bank Independent and E.S. Robbins.
