Funeral services for Mr. Colvin D. “C. D.” Mitchell, age, 82 of Lineville will be held on Wednesday, June 9, 2021 at 11:00 AM. at Benefield Funeral Home of Ashland with Rev. Greg Dempsey officiating. Burial will follow in the Clay County Memory Gardens.
Mr. Mitchell passed away on Sunday, June 6, 2021 at his beloved farm. He was born in Ohatchee, Alabama but had lived for most of his life in Clay County. He was a textile Mills worker and a farmer. He loved farming his cows and chickens and raising beagles that he used for rabbit hunting and would go as often as he could. Mr. Mitchell always willing to help anyone had a big vegetable garden and could grow anything. He loved his family, and his grandchildren and great-grandchildren adored their PawPaw and doing things on the farm with him. Mr. Mitchell was a member of the Bowden Grove Baptist Church.
He is survived by his daughter, Pam Sharbono (Bill) of Gardendale, her son Randy Mitchell (Mary Ellen) of Lineville, her sisters, Mary Booker and Wilma Green of Cussetta, and a brother Mack Mitchell (Gail) of Lineville, nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Nat Rampey Mitchell and Flora Ledbetter Mitchell, his wife of 54 years, Virginia Pitts Mitchell, one son Phillip Mitchell, one sister, Sue Hall and three brothers, Bill, Nat and Bee Mitchell.
Pall bearers will be Aaron Mitchell, Brandon Mitchell, Cody Payton, Martin Alverez, Charles Bass, Tony Mitchell, Brady Sharbono and Jeff Griffin.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 8, 2021 from 5:30 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Benefield Funeral Home in Ashland and until service time on Wednesday.
