LIMESTONE COUNTY-The 39th Annual Limestone Sheriff’s Rodeo and the Greatest Show on Dirt East of The Mississippi is scheduled for May 14 and 15 beginning at 8:00 PM. You will see quality family entertainment at its finest with Bareback Riding, Saddle Bronc Riding, Calf Roping, Cowgirls Breakaway Roping, Steer Wrestling, Cowgirls Barrel Racing, and Bull Riding! 4X Funnyman on the Year Mighty Mike Wentworth will keep you laughing all night long!
Considered the largest outdoor rodeo east of the Mississippi, the Limestone Sheriff’s Rodeo takes place the third weekend in May each year. As cowboys and cowgirls compete for over $50,000 in prize money, families are entertained with all the makings of a family-friendly rodeo including professional clowns and specialty acts. And along with two days of rodeo competition, there are a handful of family-friendly events in the week leading up to the rodeo weekend.
The Limestone Sheriff’s Rodeo is produced by the Lone Star Rodeo Company and is held at the Limestone Sheriff’s Rodeo Arena located on Alabama Highway 99 west of Athens.
Proceeds raised during this event help secure training and equipment for the deputies of the Limestone County Sheriff’s Office.

This year’s rodeo has 362 entries, contestants from 17 different states and Canada and more than $64,000 will be paid out to contestants over the weekend.
