Four-Vehicle Accident Near Tuscumbia Takes One Life Injuries Three Others

TUSCUMBIA-The Alabama Law enforcement Agency reports a four-vehicle accident has occurred with several injuries and one death.  the accident occurred on Thursday, April 15:

“A four-vehicle crash at approximately 2:36 p.m. Thursday, April 15, has claimed the life of a Fulton, Miss., man and injured three others.

Craig Bonney, 55, was killed when the 1999 Dodge Ram he was driving struck a 2021 Freightliner head-on. Bonney was attempting to pass two other vehicles in a no-passing zone on a hillside. The Freightliner, after impact with the Dodge Ram, crossed the centerline, and struck a 2018 Chevrolet Impala driven by William Brown, 55, of Five Points, Tenn. A 2006 Dodge 3500 driven by Christopher Thompson, 55, of Sheffield sustained minor damage from the debris in the roadway.

Bonney was pronounced deceased at the scene. A passenger in the Dodge Ram suffered severe injuries and was transported to North Alabama Medical Center in Florence. The driver of the Freightliner, Jocklyn Smith, 33, OF Memphis, TN., was transported to Helen Keller Hospital in Sheffield for minor injuries. Brown, the driver of the 2018 Impala, was transported by air to a Huntsville hospital for treatment.

The crash occurred on Alabama 247 at the 19 mile marker, approximately 11 miles west of Tuscumbia. Nothing further is available as Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.”
