Sylvia Jan EnglandSylvia Jan England, age 80 passed away peacefully at her home in Murfreesboro, Tennessee surrounded by family Sunday, April 4, 2021. Jan was born in Mount Pleasant, Tennessee June 28, 1940, to the late Herbert and Audrey Wood Nichols.

Jan grew up in the small town of Mount Pleasant where she lived most of her life. She graduated in 1959 from Haylong high school. After graduation, Jan pursued her passion, which was child care. She spent the better part of her life nurturing and raising children from her own son, nieces, and nephews, as well as countless children in Maury county. Jan worked at Kings Daughter’s School for quite some time and then worked at Andrew’s Day Care for many years. She had a kind and caring heart for all people but especially the little children. Jan was the person that put her faith into action and personified God’s love. She was a long-time very active member of Locust Street Church of Christ. Jan used her life to glorify God through her actions. She is loved and will be dearly missed by her family, friends, and community.

Jan is survived by her loving husband: Robert England; son: James Robert (Crystal) England; grandchildren: Kyleigh England, Kinslee England, and Noah England; sister: Sharon McCarley; special niece: Debbie (Richard) Davis; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, April 8, 2021, at Williams Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant. A funeral service for Jan will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 9, 2021, at Williams Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant with Greg Gwin officiating. Burial will follow at Polk Memorial Gardens in Columbia, TN.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation in Jan’s name.
